The Father's Day Council and the American Diabetes Association are inviting fifth graders throughout Utah to tell the world why their dad, grandfather or uncle is their hero.

The 2004 My Dad Is a Hero Contest of art and essays runs through May 26. Two entries will be selected by a panel of volunteers to receive prize packages from contest sponsors, and entries will be displayed at the Father of the Year awards dinner on June 17.

Contest entry forms and rules are available online at www.diabetes.org (click on Community Programs and then on What's Happening Locally) or by calling 1-888-DIABETES.

Proceeds from the award dinner benefit research and programs of the American Diabetes Association. No purchase is needed to enter, and no donations will be solicited in conjunction with the contest.
