Salt Lake City police continued looking Thursday for a man who left an elderly woman in critical condition following a hit-and-run accident.

Just after 9:30 p.m. Wednesday a 71-year-old woman was hit by a pickup truck while crossing 2100 South near 135 East. The woman went onto the hood of the vehicle, rolled off and was then run over, according to witnesses.

The truck that hit the woman continued for another 100 yards before stopping, said Salt Lake City police detective Phil Eslinger.

The driver got out of his vehicle for a few seconds, got back in, did a U-turn and drove past the accident and continued driving without stopping, he said.
