Don Ross Anderson, age 80, passed away May 13, 2004 from complications of Alzheimer's.
Don Ross was born Dec. 11, 1923 to his parents William Richard and Emma Alice (Bevan) Anderson in Tooele, UT.
He is survived by children Michael (Jeannie) of Grantsville; Beverly (Mike) of Grantsville; Patti (Bob) of Grantsville; and Doug (Valerie) of Grantsville; nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren; sister Gail Baimesberger of Salt Lake City; brothers R. B. Anderson of Grantsville; Max Anderson of Tooele.
Preceded in death by parents William Richard and Emma Alice Anderson, wife Ellen Aloyce (Watson) Anderson, Emma Daniels (wife of a later marriage), two brothers, Wilson and Bevan, and three sisters, Thelma Charles, Sadie Goodwin, and Fern Gillette.
Don Ross was a social man and loved people. He loved to travel and meet new people. He could see goodness in every man. He was a willing volunteer in many civic, social, and church events. He proudly served in the 82nd Reconnaissance Battalion in Europe during World War II surviving the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded two purple hearts. He was a member of the American Legion and DVA. He served as Commander of the Utah VFW, an organization he was committed to. After retiring from the Tooele Army Depot he worked for Pinkerton Security at the Salt Lake Airport, a job he relished for the many contacts he made with new people.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 17, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at Tate Mortuary, 110 So. Main St., Tooele. Friends may call at the mortuary on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and 11:30-12:30 on Monday prior to the service. Interment in the Grantsville City Cemetery.
