Utah's version of the fourth annual Change Your Mind Day — a day of meditation in parks around the world — will be held on Saturday, June 5, in the gardens of Wat Dhammagunaram, the Thai Buddhist Temple in Layton.
The free event starts with 108 strokes on a bell, beginning at 12:30 p.m., and will include teachings, sitting and walking meditation, music and energy movement such as tai chi chuan and wai dan kung. Local teachers from various Buddhist traditions, including Theravada, Tibetan, Vipassana and Zen, will offer teachings and guidance in meditation. Buddhists and non-Buddhists, as well as people who know nothing about meditation, are invited to participate.
The Thai Buddhist Temple is located at 644 E. Gordon Ave. (1000 North) in Layton. Participants are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets.
