Earlier today I was at parent-teacher conference at Bryant Middle School. I parked on 800 East in front of the school, as did other parents. There was nowhere else to park short of a block or two away. The area was posted as a bus stop, but the last bus leaves well before 3:30 p.m. Parent-teacher conferences began at 4 p.m.

Imagine my outrage to find a parking ticket for parking in the bus zone. It strikes me as a sneaky, underhanded, offensive ploy to squeeze money out of parents who were doing the right thing by attending parent-teacher conferences. We parked where it made sense to park. We blocked no traffic, we created no hazard, we hindered no bus.

Parking enforcement supervisors should instruct their minions to be sensitive to the practical realities of school and community events, and to use better judgment in the matter of issuing citations.
