PINE VALLEY, Utah — The Pine Valley chapel, known for its ship builder construction and picturesque setting high in the mountains above St. George, Utah, will be under renovation for six months.

To accommodate visitors who come each summer, the stake has erected a 40-foot by 80-foot white tent where services will be conducted.

Stake members and other volunteers gathered the morning of April 17th and raised the tent in less than two hours. The next morning, the tent proved its durability by withstanding four inches of snow that fell overnight.

The Pine Valley Chapel, built as an upside down ship, will undergo extensive restoration and preservation work. Meetings will be each Sunday in the nearby tent beginning at 10 a.m.

The chapel is one of only two structures replicated at This Is the Place Heritage Park in Salt Lake City for which the original still stands.
