1919 ~ 2004

Lealand Keith Hobbs, age 84, passed away peacefully May 14, 2004, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He was born in Ogden, Utah May 31, 1919 to Jack Henry Hobbs and Hester Shilts. He married Lorraine (Peggy) Miller Dec 17, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Utah. In May, 1942 he was inducted into the United States Army Air Force. There he served as Private First Class in the 32nd Bombardment Squadron until he received an Honorable Discharge in August, 1945. He served in Europe with his fondest memories of Italy and Africa.

For 35 years, Lee owned and operated Lee's Payless Service. After that, he worked at J.W. Brewer's Tire Company. His favorite employment was serving as a Crossing Guard on 33rd South and 9th East.

Lee is survived by his wife, Lorraine; two daughters, Peggy Lee (Gordon) Childs, Julie Ann; one son, Joel (Ann); five grandchildren; five great-grand-children; three sisters, Barbara Go-wen, Jackie Hawkes, Faye (Ed) Beagley.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2004 at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street; Murray, Utah. Friends and family may call one hour prior to the service Tuesday. Interment will be at the Murray City Cemetery, 5600 South Vine Street.
