Beverly Willmore Hurst, age 77, passed away at Lakeview Hospital of natural causes, May 14, 2004. She was a very courageous individual who made a valiant effort toward her recovery, bravely facing the pains and challenges of her infirmities during the many months of her illness and declining health. Beverly was enveloped in the embraces and love of her two sons and husband at the moment of her passing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a stillborn daughter. Beverly is survived by her husband, Dr. J. Fred Hurst of Bountiful; sons, Dr. Craig Willmore Hurst (Waukesha, Wisconsin), and Earl Fred Hurst (Farmington, Utah); daughter-in-law, Sandy Storms Hurst; and grandchildren, Justin Robert, Brandon Earl, Brady Madison, Cameron Joseph, and Courtney Hurst. She will be greatly missed by all of those who knew and loved her.
Beverly was born in Salt Lake City April 12, 1927 to Madison Owen and Sybil Holjeson Willmore. She graduated from Salt Lake City South High School, earned a Bachelor of Science degree (with honors) from the University of Utah in 1948, and was certified by the State of Utah as a secondary school teacher. In addition to her academic accomplishments, while attending the university Beverly was popular and well-known, with memberships in Alpha Delta Pi, Chi Theta and Lambda Delta Sigma sororities. After her graduation she was employed in Salt Lake City by the Young Electric Sign Company.
In September of 1950, she married her eternal companion, Fred, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Their first home was in Salt Lake. They lived briefly in Ogden and then settled in Bountiful where they resided until moving to Boise, Idaho in 1968. Beverly was very intelligent and had a brilliant mind. Along with maintaining a beautiful home, raising her two sons, and managing family finances, she utilized her education and business acumen serving as president of the Psychological Assessment Center of Idaho and managing the office and business affairs for Fred's private practice in psychology. Beverly accepted a number of church callings in the Boise 20th Ward including serving as ward librarian for a number of years. After their retirement, Beverly and Fred returned to Bountiful in 1996 where they enjoyed each other's companionship, opportunities to travel, their extended families, friends, and neighbors.
Beverly was a loving and kind mother and grandmother who will often be remembered as making many sacrifices for others. She was very active in the lives of her sons serving as a cub scout leader and primary teacher. Beverly unfailingly supported Craig and Earl in their many endeavors in education, church, music, and athletics. She very much loved and supported her daughter-in-law, San-dy, and was also very active in the lives of her grandchildren expressing her love for them in numerous ways including attending and supporting their many activities.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday May 18, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main in Bountiful, Utah. Friends may call Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary and also Tuesday 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment at the Lakeview Cemetery in Bountiful.
