A Fillmore man has been booked into the Millard County Jail for investigation of manslaughter and obstruction of justice stemming from an incident that led to the death of another Fillmore resident.

Clell Edwards, 54, was pronounced dead at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo several hours after William Gould and another man brought Edwards, who was unconscious, to a Fillmore hospital. A cause of death for Edwards was not stated in the press release, nor does the release state what type of incident rendered Edward unconscious. Investigators do know, however, that the incident occurred May 4, three miles east of Fillmore in Chalk Creek Canyon.

Edwards' death was not reported to police by Gould, the third man or hospital authorities as is required by law. News of the incident, however, reached the sheriff's office through community gossip, and an investigation ensued, the release says.

Gould, 40, was arrested Saturday, according to the release. An investigation of the incident, including why the hospital failed to contact police, is ongoing.
