William Eugene Carpenter, age 77, passed away May 16, 2004 in West Valley City, Utah.
Born May 27, 1926 in Washington, Iowa, son of William Alpheus and Gertrude Zera Carpenter. Married Opal Bills Jan. 2, 1952. He worked for the railroad and retired from Fort Douglas. He was an amateur radio operator and loved trains and traveling. He had many, many radio pals. Served in the US Army during World War II and in the Military Reserves for 30 years where he retired.
Survived by wife, Opal of 52 years; son, Richard L. (Jodie) Carpenter, Taylorsville; daughter, Linda M. Johnston, West Jordan; special grandchildren, Richard, Billisue, Cody, Lacey, Traves, Dalton; two great- grandsons; and a special thanks to grandson, Derek Johnston. Preceded in death by son, William G. Carpenter; parents and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held Thurs., 10 a.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road where friends may call Wed., 6-8 p.m. and Thurs., one hour prior to services. Interment, Utah Veterans Memorial Park.
