Our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, Virginia Rose Hartwell Wills Tanner, age 88, passed away peacefully May 16, 2004, with her family by her side, after a 12 year bout with Alzheimer's Disease.

Virginia was born January 18, 1916, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to LeRoy David and Sarah Jones Hartwell. She married William (Curly) Henry Wills August 14, 1939, in the Salt Lake Temple. She later married Gilbert LeRoy Tanner, July 15, 1952, both of whom preceded her in death. She retired in 1972 after 27 years of service with the Federal Government.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many church callings. She served an LDS mission with her husband Gilbert to Nashville, Tennessee, 1980-1981.

Mom loved her family surprises, and holidays. She believed in and expected others to have a strong work ethic, honesty, discipline and integrity. She always gave unselfishly of her talents and abilities. Christmas will never be the same without Grandma Tanner's cranberry salad.

She is survived by her children, David (Kristine) Tanner, Virginia (Mike) Jaramillo, Betty (Gordon) Marz; 15 grandchildren 33 great- grandchildren, sisters, Juanita (George) Jensen, Florence (Earl) Craker. Preceded in death by her parents LeRoy David and Sarah Jones Hartwell; brother, Frank and sisters Donna and Isabelle.

Much love and appreciation to Todd and Natalie Marz (grandchildren) for their loving care of Mom and many thanks to the staff of IHC Hospice.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 20, 2004, 12:00 noon in the Draper Eastridge 1st Ward, 552 East 11400 South, Draper, Utah. Friends may call Wednesday, May 19, 2004, from 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Pkwy (10550 So), and Thurs. from 11-11:45 a.m. at the church. Interment Salt Lake City Cemetery.
