EAGLE MOUNTAIN — Dee Reynolds of Willow Creek Country Club shot 2-under-par 70 to earn medalist honors in the UGA Senior Match Play Championship qualifying round Monday at The Ranches Golf Course.

Defending champion Doug Marriott shot even-par 72 and will hold the No. 1 seed as the defending champion. He plays John Taylor in a first-round match today at 9 a.m.

Taylor, who shot a 76, was the last to survive a six-man playoff for five spots. Ken Cromwell was eliminated in the playoff. Others advancing in the playoff included Jeff Campbell, Dennis Wood, Pete Houdeshel, and James Woodall.

Reynolds will be the No. 2 seed and will face fellow Willow Creek Country Club member Pete Houdeshel in the first round.

Others who qualified include Craig Crosland, Kent Christopher and Jon Memmott at 72, Gene Ryzewicz and Allen Simkins at 73, Rich Gibbons and Dave Hedderman at 74 and Patrick Mooney and Ron Clark at 75.

The match play portion of the tournament begins today at the Ranches and continues until the champion is determined Friday.

Val Taylor shot a net 66 to earn low qualifying spot in the net division while Pete Hogelin was second at 66.
