1918 ~ 2004

Bernice Lucille Garrett Clayson Walter! 85, of Ventura, died Friday, May 14, 2004, after a brief illness.

Mrs. Walter was born June 25, 1918, in Nephi, Utah, the last of 10 children to Louis And Gerusha Estella Boswell Garrett. She married Joseph H. Clayson on June 12, 1943, in Camp Crowder, Missouri. Joseph preceded her in death July 3, 1963. She married Edwin Walter in Aug. 1975, who died December 2000.

Bernice attended Nephi, Utah schools and Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. She worked in Los Angeles until her marriage and returned to La Canada, California after World War II, moving to Ventura in 1955. Prior to Joseph's death she worked for Dean Witter brokerage firm, and sold real estate in Ventura County for AI Albinger Realtors for many years, as well as a self employed realtor. Bernice also worked for the Ventura Unified School District.

Bernice suffered a stroke in June 1999 but continued her active lifestyle and positive attitude.

She will be dearly missed by her son and daughter-in-law, J. Harold and Mary Lois Clayson of Salem, Utah and son, Alan Clayson of Ventura; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchil-

dren; brother Dean Garrett of Lindon, Utah. Besides her husbands, preceded in death by three sisters, Hortense, EIeda, and Dora, and five brothers, Glen, Earl, Rex, Ralph, and Paul.

Visitation will take place from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, May 21, at the Ted

Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Lorna Vista Rd., Ventura. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday! May 22, also at the funeral home with Bishop Mark Judson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - 2nd Ward of Ventura. Burial will follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura.
