Sherman F. Thompson, age 75, passed away May 17, 2004 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He was born March 30, 1929 in Brigham City, Utah to Bert L. Thompson and Lily May Fredrickson.
He attended Grant Elementary and Central Jr. High. He graduated from Ogden High School in 1947. He attended many college and continuing education courses.
He married Mary Alice Stoffel in 1972 in the Oakland LDS Temple.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had great faith and loved the Lord. He served in several bishoprics, and served on the Stake High Council. He also taught Seminary in Oakland for many years. He was always concerned about, and took good care of the widows in his ward.
He was extremely generous. His greatest pleasure was always giving to others during his entire life. He loved to read and to learn. He enjoyed traveling and visited many parts of the world. He had a long and successful business career in retailing, and was a partner in several retail clothing stores in California.
He loved his family and especially cared for his widowed mother, and loved spending time with his dear sister.
He is survived by his ex-wife Mary Alice Thompson, his sister Sharlene (Bryan) Lund, two nephews, and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his father and mother.
Graveside services will be held at the Brigham City Utah Cemetery, 3rd E. and 3rd S., Saturday May 22, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends Friday May 21, 2004 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary at 3401 S. Highland Drive in Salt Lake City, Utah. Interment will be held at the Brigham City Cemetery.
