After reading John Florez in the May 17 paper, ("Pioneer Park was oasis for kids of all kinds"), I couldn't help but think what Sandy city will be throwing away if the proposed development in the gravel pit is adopted. Such an oasis could be created here, with a community park that brings together residents from all over Sandy.

We need a place where we can enjoy a daily stroll, meet friends and neighbors for picnics — a place for peaceful introspection and wholesome recreation. One will certainly not find that kind of memorable oasis in a busy Wal-Mart parking lot.
