Angel (8 p.m., Ch. 30): This great series is going out too early, thanks to the WB's aggravating cancellation. "I don't have the feeling that I had with 'Buffy,' which was, 'We are done. Thank you. Goodnight,' " said executive producer Joss Whedon. "I sort of have the feeling of, 'OK, the lights are off. We'd better leave.' " And the departure is more a climax than a finale. "It is not a final grace note after a symphony the way 'Buffy' was. We are definitely still in the thick of it, but . . . the point of the show is you're never done. And whoever survives the show to get that point will embody that." And, make no mistake about it, characters will die. "The pain and loss that I felt when they canceled the show, I am going to share," Whedon said. And fans will have memories of five great seasons to share.
Law & Order (9 p.m., Ch. 5): Jerry Orbach's final episode. (Season finale)
