They say lightning never strikes twice. But it isn't lightning Dean and Helen Corbett of Salt Lake City are worried about. It's boulders.
Tuesday morning a 1,000-pound rock smashed into the Corbetts' ground-level air conditioner, just missing Helen Corbett. It's the second time in six months that a giant boulder has fallen from a construction site on the hill above and damaged their home.
"I was standing right here," Corbett said, pointing to the spot where the boulder hit.
"I just heard (small) rocks coming down, and I thought it was something loose from up above. Then I saw this boulder coming for the house. I was in shock," she said.
On Dec. 10, a 3,000-pound boulder bounced off their patio and crashed through the Corbetts' sliding-glass door and into their living room. The couple was still in the process of replacing their patio and door when Tuesday's accident happened.
A house is being constructed on the hill above them, and the boulders are being installed for landscaping.
