Always remain outside of your vehicle once you have started pumping fuel.

If a spark occurs, do not remove the fuel pump from your gas tank.

Do not smoke.

Do not leave the engine running.

When filling a portable container, make sure it has full contact with the ground. Make sure the metal tip of the nozzle has contact with the container opening.

Disperse possible static by touching something metal with your bare hand.

Keep in mind that rubber shoes can prevent you from grounding yourself. Rubber shoes are more of a hazard, not a protection.
