1909 ~ 2004
- Our mother and grandmother, Orlie Bird Jensen, 94, of Ogden, passed away June 14, 2004 due to causes incident to age.
She was born November 29, 1909 to Mary Ann Huges Bird and Delbert Bird. She was educated in Mendon, where she later excelled in academics and athletics at Utah State University. She played on the Women's Basketball team as an all-star forward. She also excelled in track, tennis, swimming, and other sports. She met her husband, Leo at a dance and they married on July 18, 1936 in Mendon, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple. In addition to her abiding marriage, Orlie was also blessed to be the mother of six children. She was a devout member of the LDS Church serving in the Primary Organization and as a Visiting Teacher. She leaves a void that cannot be filled, but the love she poured on her family and friends will soften the pain of her loss.
Orlie is survived by her children, Verl, DeLoy (Carol), Larene Call, Cherie (Ken) Painter, and daughter-in-law, Kim. She has 11 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters, her husband, Leo, daughter, Maxine, son, Kent, and grandson, Mark.
Funeral services will be Saturday, June 19, 2004 at 11am at Leavitt' s Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden. Friends and family may visit one hour prior to services at the mortuary.
Interment, Washington Heights Memorial Park.
