The mother of an alleged white supremacist has been accused of ordering an intentional drug overdose of a man slated to testify against her son in a federal racketeering case.

The woman was indicted this week on charges of witness tampering for allegedly ordering the overdose, which never happened. According to court documents, the man ordered to carry out the attack was shot last month in Roy when he refused to follow the order.

Two men face state murder charges in connection with the May 25 shooting and subsequent assault with a metal baseball bat. Court documents do not accuse the woman of carrying out that attack.

According to this week's indictment, the woman's son is one of 12 men arrested last December by federal agents. The men, alleged leaders and associates of the Soldiers of the Aryan Culture, are accused of carrying out various crimes — conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, extortion and conspiracy to distribute narcotics — to further the power of the organization.

The woman appeared in U.S. District Court Friday, where she was ordered detained pending a July 2 hearing.

In March, the lead federal prosecutor in the racketeering case received a threat believed to have come from at least one of the SAC members. Measures were immediately taken to protect the woman, who is black.
