Norman Micheal "Mike" Atkinson, eldest son of Norman Grant and Hazel Billie Brown Atkinson, born January 2, 1948, in Murray, Utah, passed away June 18, 2004 in Las Vegas, Nevada, after a long illness.

Micheal joined the Marine Corps in 1965 at the age of 17 and served in Vietnam, earning the rank of Sargent. He was an artist specializing in pencil. He married Ruth Hazel Phillips; they have three sons, Mike, Tom and Shaun; later divorced. Married Barbara Kittle; they had one son, Chris; later divorced. Micheal and Ruthy were reunited.

Micheal is survived by his wife, Ruthy; mother and stepfather Billie and Forrest Cullimore; four sons, Michael Dean, Thomas Alan, Shaun Patrick and Christian Wade; stepson, Robert Quebell; 11 grandchildren; sisters, Shelley (Jim) Jacobs, Sheila (Rick) Trolson, Linda (Mike) Reeves; brothers, Brad (Suzanne) Bakelar, Tracey (Camille) Bakelar, Mark Chip Aston, George (Sue Ellen) Atkinson; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his father; paternal grandparents, George W. and Sarah Elizabeth Sturm Atkinson; maternal grandparents, Thomas William and Mabel Armstrong Brown.

Funeral services will be held Friday, 12:00 noon at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road where a viewing will be held Thursday, 6-8 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to services. Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road.
