The Pete Suazo Leadership Foundation is holding a barbecue and nine-hole golf shootout next week to help fund college scholarships and internship awards for ethnic minority students.
Salt Lake County Mayor Nancy Workman and Salt Lake County Councilman Randy Horiuchi are scheduled to attend the event on Tuesday at the Rose Park Golf Course, 1200 N. Redwood Road.
The golf event starts at 3 p.m. and the barbecue begins at 5:30 p.m. The shootout costs $75 per person or $300 per foursome and the barbecue is $40 per person.
The leadership foundation was started in 2001 to honor the legacy of the late state Sen. Pete Suazo, an advocate for civil rights. The foundation collaborates with community leaders to support opportunities for students who demonstrate leadership and academic excellence. For more information, contact Alan or Nick at 359-2030.
