The Republican Party must have a very short memory. When dismissing John Edwards as too inexperienced to be vice president, they forget that Edwards served the same amount of time in the Senate as George W. Bush served as governor of Texas. The GOP further derides Edwards as Kerry's second choice, but Dick Cheney wasn't Bush's first choice either. That was Sen. John McCain. And Republicans must be engaging in willful amnesia to trash Edwards as a "trial lawyer" when the founder of their own party, Abraham Lincoln, was also a trial lawyer.
