4/2/1903 ~ 7/3/2004
Letha Taylor Staheli, age 101, passed away July 3, 2004 in Seattle, WA.
Daughter of Orson Shirtliff Taylor and Minnie Hegsted Taylor. Married Harvey Rulon Staheli, Nov. 23, 1927, who died Dec. 1985.
They were life long residents of Utah except when they traveled throughout the world. They spent a year in post World War II England with their two sons mainly through the urging of Letha. Throughout her life she was continually encouraging others. She was a great believer in education, receiving her BS from Brigham Young in her 30's, followed by a Master's in Social Work from the University of Utah in her 50's. She worked in the State Social Work program as a psychiatric social worker.
Surviving are her two sons, Dr. Lynn T. Staheli (Lana) of Seattle and Dr. H. Kent Staheli (Lauralee) of Salt Lake City; six grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. She loved her friends and family, but she has outlived all her friends, (except those at Park Lane) and will dearly miss them. She was fond of saying "old age is not for sissies." She was an intellectual in every sense of the word and was an avid reader. She always seemed to be aware of all the events of the world, having traveled so extensively. She was an advocate for women's rights and was particularly attuned to the needs of children and the disadvantaged.
Family memorial services will be held in Seattle and Salt Lake City.
