10 a.m.-9 p.m., Pioneer Festival and Territorial Fair at This Is the Place Heritage Park, 2601 E. Sunnyside Ave. (800 South), Salt Lake City. Celebrate the arrival of the pioneers to the Salt Lake Valley right where the trail ended. Admission is $8 for adults and $6 for children

5:30 a.m., Deseret Morning News/KJZZ TV 10K and marathon at Emigration Canyon (shuttle buses run 3:15 a.m.-3:45 a.m. from either the Delta Center or Rice-Eccles Stadium)

9:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Climb a Rock for children only, City Library Park

Noon, pie-baking contest at City Park

1 p.m.-10 p.m., Battle of the Bands

4 p.m., 10th Annual KHQN Llama Fest, 8628 S. Main, 100 llamas, obstacle course, races, food, wool demos, handicrafts. Music by Mambo Jumbo, Salsa Brava, Los Hermanos de los Andes. Admission is $3 per adult and $1 per child.

7 p.m., annual flag-retirement ceremony with a tribute to the armed forces, outdoor arena — fairgrounds, 475 S. Main; welcome home to the 1457th Engineers and tribute to all members of the armed forces.
