1922 ~ 2004
Marie was born in Nephi, Utah to Henry Svedin and Lydia Elizabeth Howarth December 7, 1922. She was joyfully reunited with them and many other family and friends Sunday evening July 18, 2004.
At the age of six her mother died. She and her younger sister Dorthea were raised by their Grandmother Howarth and Aunt Mabel in their loving home with countless cousins who have remained tied with memories of fun, laughter, apricot trees and the smell of fresh mint. Marie married Preston L. Peterson May 12, 1943 and they raised their two wonderful daughters together in Whittier, CA. Marie was a skilled, caring teacher. She taught school at Snow College and Blanding and Nephi High Schools. Her on-going desire to learn was passed on to all of her children, grandchildren and great-grand-children. After Preston's death she married Keith M. Lund, Preston's boyhood buddy from Manti, on November 26, 1982. With open arms she gained another son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren. Marie respected and enjoyed nature and the earth's beauty. She enjoyed it most of all when she was either hunting, fishing or golfing with Pete or spending time at the cabin in Big Bear with Keith and their grandchildren. Dedicated to her Heavenly Father, she lovingly served in each of her Church callings. Most of all she enjoyed the 13 years she and Keith worked together in the Los Angeles Temple. Marie's entire life was centered on and surrounded by family. This IS her legacy!
Marie is survived by a son Keith (Marilyn) Lund, two daughters Kathryn (Thomas) Gowans and Leslie (Steven) Alexander, son-in-law David F. Seaman, stepbrother Clifford Cazier and an ever growing group of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Lydia Svedin, sister Dorthea Guymon, stepmother Lavell Svedin and a stepsister and brother Flometa and William Cazier.
