Two days after a tribute concert was held for Bruce Springsteen, The Boss showed up to offer an authentic taste of his music.

Springsteen joined rocker Joe Grushecky onstage in Asbury Park for 90 minutes at Springsteen's former stomping ground on the Jersey shore. Grushecky played some of Springsteen's songs earlier in the week.

This time, the two played more than a dozen songs, including "Johnny 99." Most featured extended jams that included blistering solos by Springsteen, 54, who delighted the 500 fans.

Springsteen also was joined onstage by his wife, Patti Scialfa, for a rendition of "Mustang Sally."

After the concert at the Stone Pony club, where Springsteen is known to occasionally drop in for spontaneous gigs, the Boss spoke briefly Sunday to The Associated Press about an exhibit featuring him at the Newark Museum.

The show is ending a four-city tour that began in September 2002 at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.

Springsteen said he didn't feel any awkwardness in being the subject of a museum exhibit. "I take it as it comes," said Springsteen, who saw the show in Minneapolis.
