CHICAGO — Juan Uribe's single with one out in the bottom of the ninth scored Jose Valentin, helping the Chicago White Sox snap a five-game losing streak with a 9-8 victory over the Anaheim Angels on Thursday.

With one out in the ninth, Valentin and Paul Konerko singled off reliever Brandon Donnelly. The Angels moved left fielder Jose Guillen between first and second, shifting second baseman Adam Kennedy to the right side of second. Uribe then sent a 1-2 pitch deep over Jeff DaVanon's head in left-center.

Damaso Marte (3-2) struck out two in 2/3 of an inning and got the win.

Donnelly (1-2) pitching 2/3 of an inning and got the loss.

Konerko matched a career-high with four hits and drove in two runs.

Anaheim's David Eckstein had three hits, three runs and three RBIs, and Chone Figgins added three hits, including a two-run triple that raised his major-league leading total to 12.

RANGERS 10, INDIANS 0: At Cleveland, Ricardo Rodriguez pitched a three-hitter for his first career shutout, and David Dellucci hit two of four home runs by Texas to a 10-0 win Thursday over Cleveland.

Rodriguez (2-0) walked two and struck out a career-high six while facing his former team for the first time.

Dellucci hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning and a two-run shot in the fourth to tie a career-high with five RBIs as the Rangers won for the fifth time in six games.

Michael Young led off the game with a homer off Scott Elarton (0-2) and Kevin Mench also hit a two-run shot in the second for the Rangers, who have a major-league leading 130.

YANKEES 7, DEVIL RAYS 1: At New York, Jose Contreras gave the Yankees the strong start they needed Thursday night, and Derek Jeter drove home two runs with a pair of doubles in New York's 7-1 victory over Tampa Bay.

Gary Sheffield hit a two-run homer and Hideki Matsui a two-run double for the Yankees, who had allowed 49 runs in losing five of their past six games.

But Contreras put a stop to the pitching woes, holding Tampa Bay to one run and three hits in 6 2/3 innings. New York beat Victor Zambrano (9-5) for the first time this season.

Contreras (6-3), who has baffled the Yankees with his inconsistency, retired his first seven batters, pitched out of a bases-loaded jam in the fourth and then sailed through nine straight hitters. He was lifted in the seventh.

TWINS 7, TIGERS 1: At Minneapolis, Cristian Guzman's three-run homer capped a five-run seventh inning and Minnesota won its fourth straight, 7-1 over Detroit.

Guzman drove in four runs, including a tying double in the sixth. He lined a 3-2 pitch from Mike Maroth (5-7) over the left-field fence to finish the rally, as the Twins offense awakened after Maroth retired the first 14 Minnesota hitters to start the game.

Ivan Rodriguez's homer leading off the sixth put Detroit ahead and ended the Twins' streak of 32 consecutive scoreless innings. But Rodriguez, a 10-time Gold Glove winner, made two defensive mistakes that helped the Twins rally.
