"In Loving Memory"

Merlin T Johnson, beloved husband, father and grandfather, returned home to his Heavenly Father August 15, 2004 after struggling with kidney problems. He died peacefully at his home in West Valley City, Utah.

Born February 15, 1932 in Provo, Utah to Francis Lester and Elvada Jane Ivie Johnson. Merlin had a very colorful and busy life. He graduated from Provo High School where he was active in sports. In 1955 he met his sweetheart, Bette, at BYU. They married May 25, 1956 and have had a wonderful, busy life together. Merlin was an airmen 2nd class and an Air Force mechanic in the Korean Conflict. He has traveled the world and chased typhoons.

Survived by his wife, Bette LaVerne Tidwell Johnson; children, Cary (Heather), Jeff (Julie), Hal (Jodie), Janae (Derek), Jolynn (David); 11 grandchildren, Becky, David, Adam, Brandon, CJ, Madisen, Chandler, Colby, Cortni, Cody, Haven; brothers, Howard, Bernell; sister, Delowa. Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Milton; son, Andreas.

Merlin had a smile that lit up any room and strong, sturdy shoulders ready for any grandbaby to ride on. He was extremely talented and could build and fix anything. A gift he has passed on to his children. He will be deeply missed. We love you, Dad.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, 11:00 a.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road where a viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Interment, Utah Veterans Memorial Park.
