Brenda Rawson (Readers' Forum, Aug. 18) confronts Clark Larsen's question, "Why is it that some people are so eager to jump on the Mormon-bashing bandwagon?" by bluntly claiming that Mormons bring it upon themselves by having an attitude of superiority. While there is some value in that argument, it does not excuse anyone from abhorrent behavior. Rawson ignores the fact that many Mormon critics are even more convinced of their own moral supremacy.
Rawson's argument is analogous to arguing that women who dress provocatively deserve to be sexually assaulted. I strongly disagree. Some women could dress better and some Mormons could behave better, but to imply they "deserve it" is merely another form of "bashing." So it would seem that if Mormon-bashing has a bandwagon, Rawson is its cheerleader.
