HUDSON, Fla. — A man who mistook his 31-year-old daughter for a burglar shot and critically wounded her Monday when she tried to get into her parents' house before dawn.

Teri Lee Moody was struck in the side around 5 a.m., police said. Her two children, ages 4 and 10, were in her car.

George Earl Ingram, 54, told authorities that his gun went off when his daughter startled him, the sheriff's office said. He said he armed himself after his wife woke him up because of a noise at the front door.
