Police from several agencies are looking for the so-called "Chipped-Tooth Bandit."

A man with two badly chipped front teeth is believed to be responsible for more than a dozen robberies around Salt Lake County over the past few weeks.

In each case, a man with a similar description walks into a store and hands the clerk a note demanding money. In some of the incidents the man has displayed a weapon.

Sandy investigators believe they can link the robber to at least three robberies in their area and one in Draper in which they assisted that city's police department.

On Aug. 10, a man robbed Canyon View Cleaners, 7117 E. 9400 South, about 3:30 p.m. The next day, a man with the same description robbed a Sno Shack, 10273 S. 1300 East, at 4:37 p.m. and then a dry-cleaning business two hours later near 10600 South and State, said Sandy police Sgt. Bill O'Neal.

In each case the description and the routine of the robber was the same, he said.

The man is described as being about 5-foot-11, between 130 and 150 pounds. He has brownish-blond, spiky hair. He is believed to be in his late teens to early 20s.

But the feature that apparently sticks out with everyone who sees him is two chipped front teeth, O'Neal said. Both teeth are chipped almost in the shape of half moons, he said.

Salt Lake County Sheriff's Lt. Reed Parkin said two business robberies in his jurisdiction since Aug. 11 are believed to have been committed by the bandit. One was at a cafe near 3900 East and 3300 South on Aug. 11. The other was on Aug. 15 at a tanning salon near 1100 East and 3300 South.

In each case the bandit used a note demanding money, Parkin said.

The bandit is believed to also be responsible for robberies in Murray and West Valley City, Parkin said. In some of the cases he has been known to wear a visor and glasses, he said.

A Quizno's was robbed in West Valley City near 4100 South and 5600 West Monday night. The suspect in that incident somewhat matched the description of the Chipped-Tooth Bandit, said West Valley police Capt. Craig Black. But as of Wednesday Black said there was no evidence to directly link that case with the others.
