Funeral services for Elaine Clark Child will be held at the Afton, Wyoming 3rd-4th LDS Ward Chapel at 11:00 a.m. on August 7th, 2004. Her death was a result of complications from Alzheimer's disease.

Elaine was born in Holden, Utah on March 29, 1924 to George Rulon Clark and Alda Nixon. At the age of eight, Elaine moved with her parents to Afton, Wyoming where her father taught school. Her parents owned and ran the Afton Pioneer Hotel. Upon graduation from Star Valley High School, she attended Brigham Young University in 1941. She married Francis Doyle Child in Kent, Washington on September 21st, 1942.

Known for her beautiful soprano voice, she never turned down an opportunity to perform in choirs, concerts, funerals, sacrament meetings and the Messiah. She was a member of the Southwest Heritage Choir in St. George, Utah performing in the United States and Europe.

She served as chorister in almost every auxiliary of the LDS Church and as a ward Relief Society president prior to presiding with her husband over the Wisconsin, Milwaukee Mission in 1981. She was dedicated to her husband, family, friends, and church callings, touching the lives of those she served.

She was preceded in death by her husband Doyle, son Clark, parents, and one sister, Helen Wood. Survivors include daughters Patty (Tom Davis) of Afton, WY; Betty Child of Smithfield, UT; Susan Child of Lake Butler, FL; and son Robert (Freida Brog) of Orem, UT; 20 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Star Valley Medical Center in Afton, Wyoming.
