I was outraged upon reading the story in your paper about Erika Gandre, whose car was struck late at night by a hit-and-run driver. Although she got the license plate number of a white Mercedes, the police were unable to find the registered owner. Since no one was injured, the police closed the case.

The excuse?

Police workloads were up and resources down.

How are the FBI and CIA supposed to protect us from terrorists when the local police can't even find the registered owner of a vehicle?

I suggest we cancel all doughnut breaks and implant a microchip in every police officer to keep track of where he is and what he or she is doing. If Utah can afford a Matrix system to keep track of innocent public citizens, it can certainly afford such a system to keep track of police officers.
