Several Readers' Forum letters have recently discussed NAFTA and the FTAA. These international "free-trade" agreements create supranational bureaucracies to manage trade in our hemisphere and are not answerable to the American voter.

The FTAA "free-trade" zone will throw open our borders and allow labor to move at will throughout the hemisphere until wages equilibrate at the lowest common denominator. The elitists at the Wall Street Journal and the transnational corporations are not going to be satisfied until they destroy the nation-state and drive wages down to $1 an hour.

Some of us love this country for what it is. Our nation is more than just a giant piggy bank to be exploited by the transnational elite! Congress should repeal NAFTA and torpedo the FTAA.
