For the third year, the Salt Lake Valley Health Department has teamed with partners to urge Salt Lake County residents to bring in their old electronics to be recycled.

Disposing of old computers, televisions, cell phones and other electronic products can be a problem, but it's important because so many of the products can hurt the environment and pose health risks if not disposed of properly. So the department has teamed with Salt Lake Valley Solid Waste Management Facility, the Recycling Coalition of Utah and the Best Buy store on 2100 South.

Saturday, from 8 a.m. to noon, items may be brought to the Best Buy parking lot, 261 W. 2100 South. Disposal fees range from $1 to $5. Salt Lake Mayor Rocky Anderson has offered to pay the recycling fee for all Salt Lake City residents who bring in their "e-waste" for responsible recycling. Proof of city residency is required.
