1954 ~ 2004

Alison Jane Rich Steffensen, age 48, died suddenly on Sept. 15, 2004, of an apparent heart attack which may have been the result of a long battle with asthma, in her home in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Jane was born September 7, 1956, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Sterling R. And Beth P. Rich. She married Brian W. Steffensen, in the Salt Lake Temple on September 28, 1979. She bore six children: a daughter Jamie, and sons Adam, Micah, Aaron, Isaac and Caleb ages 24 to 7.

A graduate of East High School in 1974, Jane attended the University of Utah where she studied History.

Jane was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions in her ward and stake. She enjoyed years of Cub Scouting with her five sons, the Young Women program with her daughter, and serving for many years in the Relief Society.

Beautiful, kind, loving, humble, gentle, shy, unpretentious, long-suffering and gracious. Jane was first and foremost a dedicated mother, and gave extraordinary heart felt compassionate service. Jane was a voracious reader of good books. Jane loved nature and the mountains. Her home was a place of quiet beauty and elegance. She strove untiringly to foster therein a spirit of peace and love, and to keep out any untoward influences.

Survived by her husband, six children, sisters Mary Ellen Rich, Ann Rich Busico (Joseph), brothers Michael S. Rich, James A. Rich (Joanne), Paul R. Rich (Shelley) and Daniel H. Rich (Becky). Preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 20, 2004 at 12:00 noon in the Bonneville Stake Center (1535 East Bonneview Drive) Friends may call Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the Stake Center and Monday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Interment, Mountain View Memorial Estates (3115 East 7800 South).
