Sandy city area schools will have extra police patrols beginning Monday morning after a man allegedly attempted to sexually assault a female student outside Jordan High early Friday.

The student told police that at about 7:50 a.m., an adult male approached her in the parking lot, grabbed her and began inappropriately touching her, according to a police department press release.

The female struck the male several times in the face and began screaming. The man then fled the scene in either a tan or silver Nissan Sentra, another student who heard the screams told police. The license plate number was not recorded.

The perpetrator is described as being a white male in his early 20s, between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 10 inches, with a thin build, short black hair and eyeglasses.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is encouraged to contact the Sandy police at 840-4000.
