Does Brigham Young University have food storage for its students?
Fact. BYU students won't have to worry about scavenging for food in the event of an emergency. The BYU Warehouse and Dining Services has prepared 33,000 kits that will keep students nourished for up to 72 hours.
However, should the effects of a disaster last longer than three days, students could be on their own — though BYU would make every effort to get emergency supplies and food to students.
To be safe, however, students are encouraged to keep their own small supply of food, water and basic necessities, as well as diapers and baby formula for any children.
Of course, a real emergency for most college students is not having the right thing to wear on their dream date.
So when the "Big One" hits, the mighty Cougs might find themselves a little vulnerable.
Was "Napoleon Dynamite" filmed in Utah?
Fiction. Though the popular film was written by former Brigham Young University students Jared and Jerusha Hess and stars current Cougars Jon Heder and Aaron Ruell, the movie was filmed in Preston, Idaho, where Jared Hess grew up.
And the feature film evolved from a nine-minute short that Hess made as a BYU student and entered into its annual "Final Cut" film festival.
Though the lead character, Napoleon Dynamite, is only loosely based on Hess' own awkward adolescence, the 24-year-old has admitted that he was a "nerd" while growing up in the small Idaho town.
But no one is making fun of Hess today. The quirky "Dynamite," which was made for a mere $400,000 has raked in more than $20 million dollars and made famous the question, "You gonna eat your tots?"
