LINDON — Three teenage boys are in trouble with Uinta National Forest officials for driving their car in circles in the newly finished Dry Canyon Trailhead parking lot above Lindon.

Loyal Clark, Uinta National Forest spokeswoman, said the young men were in a Volkswagen spinning doughnuts and spraying signs with the gravel Monday afternoon when a Pleasant Grove/Lindon police officer stopped them.

One 17-year-old was cited for vandalism to government property and will be referred to juvenile court, Clark said. The other two boys, both 16, were scolded and referred to their parents.

The area has been the focus of a volunteer restoration project.

"It's extremely discouraging given these enhancements and these improvements to the trailhead and other areas. With the time and effort involved and the money we've spent, this is extremely discouraging to have them see this kind of destruction as a form of recreation," said Clark.
