1920 ~ 2004

Croft L. Smith, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away surrounded by his family on September 23rd of natural causes.

He was born Feb. 12, 1920 to Dora Croft and David W. Smith. He married Afton L. Poole on June 4, 1943 in the Salt Lake Temple.

He graduated with honors from the U of U. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as an accountant and office manager for National Lead for 38 years. He served in many positions in the LDS Church. Croft was a kind and gentle man who loved his family and the gospel. He served an LDS mission in Texas and Louisiana. Croft and Afton founded and ran the Valley West Training Center for special needs children. He spent 10 years as a volunteer at Cottonwood Hospital, including a term as auxiliary president.

Survived by his wife; children, Sandra (Rob Higley), Lawrence (Joan), Pamela (Larry Connolly), Devin (Eileen), Dorene (Roy Stauffer); four brothers; one sister; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by son C. Leonard.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 27, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at Murray 25th Ward, 363 East Vine Street. Friends and family may call Sunday, Sept 26, 2004 from 5-7 p.m. at the church and one hour prior to services on Monday. Interment Bountiful City Cemetery. Funeral directors: Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary.
