Matthew Bruce Roush 1963 ~ 2005 Matt Roush, 41, died suddenly January 8, 2005 in Cancun, Mexico of a heart attack. He was born on October 21, 1963 in Ogden, Utah to Robert R. and Jerrilyn K. Roush. Matt was raised in Ogden, graduating from Bonneville High School in 1982. He was the Seminary Student Body President, First Team All-State Defensive End in Football, and the State Sterling Scholar in Science. Matt served an honorable mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Guatemala. While attending Brigham Young University he was a member of the BYU football team. After his graduation from BYU in 1987 he attended medical school at the University of Utah graduating in 1991. He completed a three year residency in family practice in Phoenix, Arizona. Matt combined his love of sports and medicine by completing a Fellowship in Sports Medicine at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana in 1995. After his medical training, he took a position as co-director of the fellowship in Muncie. He loved working with all of his patients in his Family and Sports Medicine clinic during the eight years he practiced in Indiana. As much as he loved medicine, his heart was always with his family. He married his wife of 18 years, Tiffany Ann Barlow on August 7, 1986 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with six wonderful children. They resided in Muncie, IN from 1994 until 2003. They moved to Provo, UT one year ago where he has been the Sports Medicine Fellowship Director at Utah Valley Sports Medicine and a Sports Doctor for BYU and UVSC. Matt's other great love was service in his church; including the Young Men's program, the bishopric, the high council and a home teacher. His favorite church calling was that of a teacher, especially with the young men, where he served in various capacities and was a great leader and example. Matt had a passion for missionary work and loved to talk about the gospel wherever he went. He approached everything he did with his full heart and intensity. He loved people and he loved life. He left his children and all those associated with him a noble legacy. At the time of his death, Matt had brought his family back home to Utah, was serving his beloved BYU and had even watched the Red Sox win the World Series. He is survived by his wife, Tiffany; his six children, Benjamin, 16, Eli, 14, Caleb, 11, Madison, 8, Brittany, 5, and Samuel, 18 months; parents, Robert and Jerrilyn Roush; siblings, Timothy R.
