Being a convert to the LDS Church for more than 50 years, I have seen a marked change from those fledgling days when the church could only sustain its own members with welfare needs. Now it has become a worldwide humanitarian church. When the church president recently made a call to the members for emergency funds — wherever they lived — to give the "widow's mite" and lend a helping hand to the victims of the recent tsunami, it was a proud moment for the members of the church.
