Brenan Davis

American Fork Cavemen

Sport: Basketball

Class: Senior

Position: 6-foot guard

The numbers: As American Fork's floor general, Davis is shooting over 55 percent from the floor, averaging 12 points, six assists and two rebounds per game. In his team's league-opening win at Springville, Davis dished out 10 assists while committing only one turnover. He also finished the game with 17 points and five 3-pointers. "I think Brenan is the best point guard in the state because he understands how to get his teammates involved, but yet has the ability to hit big shots for us," Coach Doug Meacham said. "He is our quarterback/coach on the floor, and he is a big reason for any success we have this year."

Kelly Hennessey

Meridian Mongoose

Sport: Basketball

Class: Junior

Position: 5-foot-2 guard

The numbers: The Mongoose playmaker leads her team in almost every statistical category, averaging 14.5 points, seven rebounds, six steals and five assists per game. Last week, in region victories over Tintic and Wendover, she scored 21 and 19 points respectively. She also carries a 3.8 GPA. "Kelly has developed her court awareness on offense so well that she is very hard to stop," Coach Travis Madsen said. "She usually gets a pass for an assist or a shot for herself on every possession. Her defense is amazing. She anticipates very well and is very good at disrupting the offenses of our opponents."
