MELBOURNE, Australia — Members of the Church led the U.S. to two gold medals in the 20th Deaflympic games here. During the gold medal game in basketball on Jan. 15, Shari Kelsch Bailey of the Waterloo Ward, Salt Lake Wells Stake, and Andrea Anderson of the Utah Valley (Deaf) Ward, Provo Utah South Stake, helped defeat Sweden 89-75. It is Sister Bailey's second gold medal with the team. In 2002, she was MVP in the U.S. victory at the First Deaf World Championships in Athens, Greece.

In the soccer gold medal match, Nicole Banks-Gough of the Salt Lake Valley 2nd (Deaf) Ward, Bennion Utah Stake, helped lead the U.S. women to a 3-0 victory over Russia.

In beach volleyball, Sarah Parker helped the U.S. team to a bronze medal. Sister Parker attends the Washington D.C. Deaf Branch, Silver Spring Maryland Stake.
