Kathryn S. Matley 1907 ~ 2005 LOGAN, UTAH: Kathryn Stahmann Matley passed away at Sunshine Terrace in Logan, Utah, on January 26, 2005-the date of her husband, Mark's, birth. The first of the six children born to Benjamin R. and Lydia Soeffner Stahmann, Kathryn was born in Payson, Utah, on May 23, 1907. She grew up in Spanish Fork and attended schools in Spanish Fork, Utah, and Palo Alto, California. She was also a graduate of Brigham Young University. Her teaching career began in Coalville Utah, where she taught in the North Summit Elementary and Secondary schools for 25 years. Kathryn married Mark A. Matley on August 1, 1928. Their family was later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together, she and Mark served in the Nauvoo Mission, and she was also a Temple Officiator in the Logan Temple. Mark passed away in 1980. They are the parents of two children: Fred (Myrna) Matley and Joyce (Kent) Wood. Along with her children Kathryn is survived by her brother, Fred Stahmann, and her sister, Grace Stahmann Bishop; eight grandchildren, 22 great-grand children and one great, great grandson. Funeral services will be held in Logan at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center, at 12:00 pm Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005. A viewing will be held from 10:30 - 11:45 a.m. prior to the services. Burial in the Spanish Fork Cemetery at 4:30 pm on Saturday.
