In today's Sunday Funnies section, the comic strip "Hi and Lois" has an unfortunate gag that could resonate with the horrific tragedy that has occurred in Southeast Asia.

Sunday comic strips are created well in advance of their publication dates, and this one was submitted Nov. 30, and printed and shipped Dec. 14, weeks before the tsunami disaster.

The strip begins with Hi and Lois looking out their window at a snowstorm. In the next panel, Hi says, "Sometimes I wish we lived in the tropics!" The last panel shows Lois with a "thought balloon" that depicts a family stuck on a rooftop with winds blowing and flood waters lapping at the roof, as she says, "Careful what you wish for!"

In a news release, King Features Syndicate said it regrets this unfortunate circumstance.
