William Alvin Schleicher 1920 ~ 2005 William Alvin Schleicher died on October 23, 2005, at the Veterans Administration Hospital from complications of cancer. He was born Jan. 16, 1920 in Lasalle, Illinois to William Christian Schleicher and Jeanne Mackintosh. He married Frances Mary Milazzo on May 30, 1947 and shared 52 years together. He graduated from Lasalle High School in 1938. After high school he started learning the trade of clock making, this training was interrupted with the outbreak of World War II. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in the South Pacific on the island of Okinawa. After the war he worked thirty years for Saperstein Laboratories as a lab technician. During this time he continued working on varied clocks as a hobby and thoroughly enjoyed tinkering with timing mechanisms and was known to carry his clocks out to his garden fiddling with timepieces and tomatoes simultaneously. He is survived by his son William (Gayle), step-grandsons Derrick and Ryan; daughter Jean (Joseph), grandson, Michael (Evelyn), and his special joy great grandson, Randon. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, sister, and in-laws. Graveside services shall be held on Thursday, October 27, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 4th Avenue and T Street.
