Obituary: Angelina Mirabelli Sciumbato

Angelina Mirabelli Sciumbato 1919 ~ 2005 Our dear and much-loved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Angelina Norina Mirabelli Sciumbato, passed away in her sleep on October 29,2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born May 30, 1919, in Rizzuti, Colosimi, Italy, the only daughter and the fifth of six children of Dominic and Rose (Bianco) Mirabelli. Her family immigrated to the US in 1935. Angelina married Rosario Sciumbato in 1946 in Salt Lake City. They had three children: James D. (Laura), Linda C. (Jim) Tsoufakis, and Rev. Michael R. Sciumbato. Mom was first a wife and mother. She took pride in her home and her family. She worked hard to provide a clean, inviting, and loving environment. When her children were in school, she began a 23 year career with the Salt Lake City School District as a "Cafeteria Lady". She was a legend at East High for her wonderful sweet rolls. She assisted in opening the new South High School cafeteria and retired after several years at Roslyn Heights Elementary where the children loved her and she loved them. "Angie" was a devoted Catholic. She was a member of St. Ann's Parish for many years. She was an associate of the St. Ann's Altar Society Ladies Guild, The Legion of Mary as well as the Catholic Women's League. She was also a member of the Italian-American Civic League. Angelina is survived by her children, who were her pride and joy, four grandchildren: Brandon (Jo) and Kristina Sciumbato, Gina and Christoper Tsoufakis, and two greatgrand children, Mathew and Morgan Sciumbato. She is also survived by two brothers Mario and Oreste (Irene) Mirabelli, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, and three brothers Luigi, Aurelio, and Guildo. The funeral liturgy will begin with a Vigil Service on Thursday, November 3rd at 7:30pm at St. Ann's Catholic Church 500 East and 2100 South in Salt Lake City. A viewing will precede the Vigil beginning at 6:00pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Ann's on Friday, November 4th at 11 :OOam. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Angelina's name to the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church Building Fund, 65 East 500 North, Orem, Utah 84057.
