Howard Reid Bowen 1925 - 2005 BOUNTIFUL/KAYSVILLE- Howard Reid Bowen, age 80, our beloved patriarch husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend died at his home, Tuesday, November 8, 2005, after a long battle with pulmonary problems. He was born May 1, 1925 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the third child of John Andrew and Jennie Beatrice Reid Bowen. He was raised in Bountiful, Utah and attended Davis High School where he was the band drum major and won his school letter on the trombone. He served his country during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Apagon as a quartermaster and official helmsman during battle and maneuvering procedures. He married Wilma Jean Webb on May 26, 1943. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on October 25, 1980. They produced sons, Richard Lee and Craig Howard Bowen. He drove a semi-truck for the Cudahy Packing Company for 19 years. He operated his own trucking company for another 20 years. His total mileage made him eligible for the four million mile club. He was a Latter-day Saint member; holding many positions including leading the priesthood in song for 18 years. He built the home in Bountiful where they lived for 42 years; they then moved to Kaysville, UT. He leaves behind his wife, Wilma; son, Craig (Nina); brother, Garrick (Marlene); three grandchildren, Joseph, Jacob and Catherine; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, brother Reid, sister Helen, and son Richard. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 11, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Gailey Park 1st Ward Chapel, 50 West 331 South, Kaysville. Friends and family may call Thursday evening from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, and Friday morning from 11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. at the church prior to services.
